What happens when the girl who was “born to be a mom” doesn’t find the man to help make her one?
My entire life, I knew I wanted to be a mom. I took parenting class twice, I would spend time babysitting my cousins just because. All of my friends joked that I would be first right out of school. Then, I didn;t find the right guy. I struggled with relationships because having children was always my top goal but the men I was with didn’t feel the same. I felt so needy and desperate. I hated it. I almost settled for a man who didn’t treat me right just because he was willing to have babies right now. I don’t want that life.
So now, here I am. I’m almost 34, I’m not a mom, I’m not a wife. My fairytale never came true, and I am now going to redesign it.
I am no longer waiting for a man to come make my fairytale come true.
I am no longer watching the clock hoping I find someone before midnight
I am making my own fairytale come true.
I am going to be a mom.
As we check in today, I have decided to be a single mother by choice. Awaiting my first appointment with the doctor and feeling… lost.
I have made this huge decision and I don’t know what to do with it. I know my family will have mixed opinions. I know it’s too early to make plans or even online “window” shops. It also feels too early to join any support groups.
So, first I created “Choosing This Chapter”. Documenting the journey to Baby G. From the very beginning. From the “show i start changing my diet already” to “will I ever feel financially ready for this” and everything in between. I can’t wait to share it with you.
